Madison River Fly Fishing Fishing Report June 8

While the dry fly fishing has been spotty due to cold water and blue bird skies, nymph fishing has been very good. Water temperature at Reynolds Pass Bridge was 50° last night with a flow of about 1,300 CFS. There is still a little cloudiness but is not at all a factor. Don't let the water color of Quake put you off. Below West Fork the water is fairly murky. We caught fish on the Batman, Shop Vac, the Tungsten Death Metal nymphs. Size #18 and smaller seem to be more effective since the most numerous bug flying around are BWO's. Make sure to use enough weight if you're fishing the faster water. We also did well fishing the softer, shallower water on the edges with a small indicator or dry with tungsten bead head nymph.
